I was listening to Bloomberg on Friday about the production of solar panels, which utilizes coal to produce polysilicon. An estimated 50% to 70% of solar panels start in a particular region of the world known for forced labor. This is not unfamiliar for green energy as some key components to EV car batteries are mined in conditions that are unsafe and through companies that are even sanctioned.

It does not seem reasonable to create a green energy movement built on a foundation that comes at the cost of environmental impact elsewhere.
